Late on, blurry eyes and a sore head or two – the result of hours wrestling with computers. A company of weary technical wizards; warming themselves with thermal processors, preparing for their journeys home and dreaming of more.
But wait. Not all hope is lost. These technical wizards have a purpose, a challenge to face.
A disembodied voice suddenly fills the room; demanding a quest, a mission of sorts, 24 hours with no stopping permitted. “…And those with the skill to survive these straits, will reach the end where the prize awaits” the voice whispers, before silence enters the room again.
The group know what they must do. They are to become Game Heroes, and their name will forever on be known as “The Apex Bandits.”
The Macmillan Games Heroes event will commence at 23:59 on Friday 15th April 2022 (Easter Weekend). Butterflies and jitters quicken between the group. It will be a 24-hour gaming slog to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and used directly in the support of those affected by cancer.
There will be games galore; retro video games, multiplayer online battles, puzzles, simulations and sports…the list goes on. Some may even, cheekily, bend the rules and bring chess or some other board game. There will also be a mashup of comedy relief and tech tips with sponsor segways. The entire event will be streamed on Twitch, YouTube and anywhere else good, clean gaming happens.
Featured professional and established streamers will get “The Apex Bandits” name out there, and Macmillan will receive every last penny raised by these valiant Game Heroes.
The last greatest attempt, any team of Game Heroes has ever achieved, was £3212. Now, it must be doubled to £6424.
Let’s get gaming.
